'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and his teammate immediately converted the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the past five games, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
